Thirteen rare visual music films featuring pre-computer abstraction, using a variety of techniques including early oscilloscope experiments, color organs, hand-drawn sound, animation drawn directly on film, painted scrolls, and optical printing. Many preserved films and new HD transfers. Films from the archive of Center for Visual Music, by Mary Ellen Bute, Jordan Belson, Charles Dockum, Jules Engel, Barry Spinello. Region 0, NTSC, DVD. Films include Bute’s Color Rhapsodie, Abstronic and Polka Graph (all new HD transfers!), Belson’s Mandala, Meditation and Chakra (all preserved by CVM), Engel’s Play Pen, Mobiles and Landscape, Dockum’s short documentary about his Mobilcolor instrument plus two Mobilcolor Performance films, and one film with handmade sound and image by Barry Spinello.

Institutional rates listed include classroom and library use, no digital distribution. Streaming rights or rights for online use are not included. Usage in museum or gallery exhibitions is not permitted for any of the dvds sold by CVM.
